I seem to think we put more junk in the air sitting at freaking traffic lights in big cities then driving. I sometimes spend more of my time idling at stop light going nowhere and polluting the air. It's the traffic lights that cause global warming!! We should be using round-abouts!!

We should also ban, and eliminate all existing, drive thru's. These are really devices thought up by oil companies to help sell more gas and oil.

Also, when I look around here in the Southeast US, I see a LOT of new car plants. If you ever wonder why they aren't making them up North anymore go ask someone in the South that has a job at one of the dozen or so new car plants. NO UNION BS to drive up labor costs and benefits.

If Delta airlines adopts the union the Northwest Airlines had, that will be the death nail of Delta. I work for a Fortune 100 company and you will see Delta go off the preferred flyer network when that happens. We have over 830 companies and our own travel agency, Delta will see an impact.

Vote Union Yes, ha .... yeah right! If you need a union to protect you then you don't deserve to have the job. Wake up people of America, the jobs BELONG to the companies that provided them, not the workers. Keep it up and the last 20 years of job deportation will last another 20 and we won't have to worry about fuel economy because we'll be sitting at home with no job and no where to go.

I still prefer to keep control of many of these factors by allowing choice. I will vote with my dollar. Let the market decide what systems succeed.
By voluntarily abrogating power/choice to bureaucrats or extremists in power, we lose our ability to choose to drive what we want.
A lot of interesting points have been made, but I think we the people should choose what we think is best for ourselves, and not allow big government to decide (and sometimes on a whim) what is best for us.
If someone wants to dramatically reduce the efficiency of thir vehicles with a "low emissions kit", well let them order it that way. Don't force everyone into the same box.

Talk to guys that use their trucks for a living where dollars and cents in the tank make a huge diff. in margin. I’m betting most guys are trying to hang onto their pre 2007 build trucks for as long as they can. We’ve got these phenomenal trucks yet are forced to pay thousands for emissions equipment that does nothing more than hinder the trucks true potential and probable reduces the engine life. It’s pretty ridiculous if you ask me and it’s certainly not the manufacturers fault.

If you’re so concerned about the environment buy a gasser and save 10k on the diesel upgrade. Because right now you’re paying more for fuel, more for the truck, more for insurance and not getting any better mileage. The only thing you’ve got right now is you can say ‘yea I drive a diesel’.

well, I do get slightly better mileage... especially when towing. also, I can tow the same weight much more easily. The mileage increase really shows up then. oh, and I can run B20 if I choose... hell, I can even run on used motor oil, used vegetable oil, pretty much any oil that I can find if I need to. It's pretty much armageddon-proof

Lol. I hope this is still true when I really do need to run on used vegetable oil. Let us know how it goes when you run some through your engine. I just don't want Armageddon happening TO my engine because I tried it.

there have been people doing it for years on other diesels. ours isn't *that* much different. A quick google search will find lots of people doing exactly that on the 7.3, 6.0, and 6.4 engines. I will try it on my 6.7 once the warranty runs out

I do recall the diesel manual pointing it out very clearly that the 6.7 should not use old oil and vegetable oil because of all the newer style dpf and DEF systems. I don't think the want us doing that stuff anymore for some reason.

It'll clog the DPF and it won't be covered.

Take one out for a test drive, just park around back on a side street so no one sees your truck..... I test drove both the 6.7 and 6.2, was impressed with both engines.

When the first thing you really need to do is trash thousands of dollars of emissions equipment just to make the thing run right. Sorry not bashing – it’s not a brand thing all companies have the same thing going on with the government right now. They make these great motors and then need to neuter them – it’s really insane.
makes me wonder what these trucks would do in Europe, where the emssions are less stringent !!
