I would like to add that your fuel filters may be dirty or look dirty but I could also be "black filter" symptom. International engines are known for this. If want to know more about it you can look it up on the DSG website they have a additive to stop this I bought a jug in the spring and add it to my bulk tank. I think its www.dieselservices.com
The radiator leak is very common. In fact I think Ford has extended the warranty on radiator to 100,000 miles. Search around on this forum and you will find the coorespondence number on it. Take that to the Ford dealer that did your radiator. The white smoke can have a lot of sources. Water is getting into the exhaust somehow. Are you losing coolant? If so how much. I think that could be EGR related. But here is the real issue for you. The driveline on that truck should be under warranty for 5 years and 50K miles, the motor and emmissions stuff for 5 years and 100,000 miles. You need to have a good talk with the Ford dealer or find a different dealer. Did you buy the truck at a Ford dealer? Is it stock? If it is chipped or has the DPF deleted the warranty may have been voided but if it wasn't voided I believe the radiator should have cost you 0000 dollars. If you bought from a Ford dealer they should have disclosed if the warranty was voided. Some of the guys who know a lot more about these trucks will give you more info on the white smoke. The radiators are covered under the engine warranty IF the thermostats are hyper extended.The white some could be a leaking EGR. Should have it looked at before it pops and dumps coolant into the cylinders. The EGR will be covered.
Thanks for the feedback - truck was purchased at a Wisconsin truck Center - in Fond du Lac- without naming names - I would only state that the world should be advised NOT to purchase Trucks from Wiconsins largest truck Center Located in Fond du Lac. That;s a long story - but super Duty Diesel trucks are like beautiful women - once you get your sites on one you'll do whatever you have to to have it.
I had the radiator replaced at the local shop I have done business with for 20+ years - my son is a Master Certified automotive tech - I'll have to get him converted to a Diesel tech. I have the old radiator - and will continue to communicate with Ford - & keep all posted.
The White smoke has gone away with the most recent fill up - Could it be just bad fuel?
& what should I expect to pay for fuel filters ?? one ford dealer quoted $118

I think you get both filters (they come as a set) for somewhere around 65 dollars. Most folks use the Ford filters and stay away from the after market stuff. There is a thread on here from a guy who had a Wix filter fail and do a lot of motor damage, Ford denied the waranty. don't know how it ended but I wouldn't chanch it. The general consenus on here and a couple other Ford diesel sites is that the 6.4L needs very good maintinance to keep it running right. We also all use the severe schedule and some even more than that, 3000 mile oil changes and fuel filters eery other change. And if you haven't figured it out yet go to the top and enter fuel mileage in search, or I'll save you the trouble, your mileage will suck. Sorry but that's just the way it is.
Thanks -I'll keep learning -As for the mileage - my last truck was an F150 with the 5.4L - when pulling our travel trailer with that I got 5.8 mpg with this 6.4L I get 11.4 mpg - so I'm thrilled. - without trailer on hiway - its about the same as the 5.4 gas. I bought this truck to pull our travel trailer - and it pulls it like it was built for it.
Ok, I just completed my first DIY oil/filter change and changed both the fuel filters. I must say, the oil change went like clockwork, no issue at all. The fuel filters......totally different story. The first thing we did wrong was change the engine fuel filter first, I got confussed as to which one was suppose to be done first. After realizing the mistake, we, my father-in-law and myself, both said screw it and changed out the frame filter next, which is a total pain in the a$$ . We then had to purge all the air through the release valve and it took about 5 cycles of turning the key on for 30 seconds and release and turn for 30 more seconds. Did that four times per cycle. Finally the truck started and stayed running. I am blessed to be able to afford to have Ford do the maintenance, I just wanted to be able to do it once so if, for whatever reason, I had to do it I would know how.

Yeah, look for a Ford deal. I got an email last week for a diesel oil change for 59.95. heck, that's almost less than it cost me to do it myself. If you live in an area with several ford dealers nearby as I do I think you can call them and cut a deal. The other thing is that most of the folks on here drain that lower filter at least monthly. The fuel rails are very touchy and can be damaged a lot by water. Of course if you get some bad fuel it can get in before you know it. Folks recommend using only fuel from stations that pump a lot of diesel so you know it's fresh.

I definately do that, there is a QT in my area that has a lot of landscaping vehicles that fill up there every morning so I know they have new diesel. Their price isn't the best or the worst but I know it's fresh.
