REPLACE YOUR FUEL FILTERS!~

I bought my rig at 40, and am now at 55k. In my 7.3, that was the interval. Read the book and found out i should have done it a while ago! Didn't think much of it, but the frame rail mount filter was incredibly dirty. The upper filter was dirty, but not like the lower. Its the worst i've ever seen!

That said, i have noticed it wasn't as quiet as when i bought it, but figured that was due to AFE filter, DPF/DOC delete. NOT SO! It is quieter than when I bought it!

anyways... just sayin'

The 7.3 never seemed to need it when i did it... but this rig really responded. I'll be ordering extra filters now!

Careful with those fuel filters! I was changing mine at every 3rd oil change and if i were to keep this truck, I would be changing them every other. These 6.4's cannot handle any lack in maintenance.

I'm a Diesel newbie starting last year.. so far the rules are use the severe duty schedule.. oil&filter at 5,000miles, fuel filters every other oil change. (10,000 miles)

Yup, severe duty schedule, check your fluids weekly when the motor is cold. Avoid bio-diesel!

I ran B11 one time in IL. Had no choice as most all of IL is b11. I try to fill up before I enter the state so I can make it to the other side.

I didn't have any ill effects other than the lower mpgs and a sooner regen.

Would not recommend it though.

I have run bio for years thats why I change filters every other oil change, know who you are buying bio from and you will have no trouble, I run (b20 Winter (b50 fall, spring,)( b99 summer) Mine now is with chicken fat!
If you get some after running straight deisel it will clean you tank( deisel up and down in tank leaves a film)! It will remove that film and put straight in your filters. You might want to change sooner than normal.
I have had no problems related to burning bio. Motor runs even quieter, burns cleaner, less regens, smells great!

I personally stick with Ford products. Motocraft filters are the only ones I use. However, there is not a chance I will be buying them from the dealer. They actually tried to charge me $100 for the filter set!

When I changed my filters last, they had just over 7K miles on them. The fuel filter on the rail was absolutely filthy, however the second one under the hood looked new. The first filter really does a good job!

oil and fuel filters you want to stick with OEM. Too risky otherwise because of the fit of the AF filters.
