I have had a aftermarket for about 5 years now that works like it is supposed to. It just made me mad every time I would look at the one I paid extra for in the dash that didn't work. I am ordering a module today from ford I will post my results when everything is installed
I think I’m going to change my feelings about superstition .
<O</O 82 K miles on early 05 NEVER any trouble! Till 2 months ago.
<O</O Turbo failed and replaced before towing our 5th wheel from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com</st1:State>Colorado to <st1:State w:st="on">Maine</st1:State> to<st1:State w:st="on"><ST1 Texas</ST1</st1:State>… ZERO problems till today.
<O</O TBC fault Fault comes on when leaving stop signs then clears…OH NO the new TurBo is going out!!! (No trailer attached)
<O</O Came in and did a “TBC fault” search. And found this first HIT.
<O</O Scary
<O</O Looking for a 06/07 controller
If you rely on the trailer hitch on the ball to provide you a ground, you will get that fault at times. Disconnect the trailer and be close enough to truck to connect the electrical plug. Then turn on lights, etc and see if you have power to the trailer.
If you do NOT, you need to run a ground from the truck connector to the trailer connector.
Have to agree with BPofMD I would check the ground. I would not replace the controller unless you know its bad or you have one of the early models that have to be doing 15 mph to work. I am replacing mine tomorrow and will post my results after a few test along with part # keep your fingers crossed. where in Texas are you we are on our way down after Thanksgiving to Alamo in the RGV pulling a Jayco desibner RL31
Well yesterday I replaced the early 05 Ford integrated brake controller with an new controller from Ford supposed to fit up to 2007. Today I tried it out on my tandem axle landscape trailer it worked as it is supposed to.I could lock the brake without moving Tomorrow or Monday I will hook up to the fifth wheel for a test drive so far looks like is plug and play. Anyone interested I will post the Ford part # for the controller I replaced it with. too bad I had to pay for it twice from ford before it worked correctly.
