I have heard that Ford Broadcast Message 4080 contains information pertaining to the new Integrated Brake Controller (IBC) output voltages.
There was supposedly some change made on or about 3/23/05 that affects the output voltage of the IBC.
Supposedly, for vehicles manufactured before 3-23-05 the output voltages when stopped should be between 1-3 volts. For vehicles manufactured after 3-23-05, the output voltages should be between 10-12 volts. If this is true, it is significant.
Has anyone heard anything about this?
My dealer has no data but a fairly reliable source quotes the referenced Broadcast Message as fact.
I believe I read somewhere where the after market controllers allow you to give max braking when you were stopped. The only time I can think of this being necessary is on some of the sliding 5th wheel hitches when you might want to lock your trailer up so the hitch will slide forward when you pull up a couple pins. I guess if you had to hold a very heavy trailer on a hill it also may be helpful. Any way the programing in the early IBC did not have this feature so now it does. I hope we can get our early IBC reprogrammed to these specs. There will be more info on this all the time I am sure.
