washed engine bay now missing out 4.2

Service Engine Soon light is on it is missing out. I have not been able to retrieve the code yet but will do so soon. I was just wondering if any one knew off the top of their head what I got wet to cause this issue. I have detailed the engine before with no problems the only difference between this time and last is that there is an aftermarket air intake on it. I made sure not to spray the filter directly. It is a 2001 f-150 4.2 v6.

Prolly got some moister under the plug wires or on the coil packs...unless this has the COPS (Coil On Plugs)...either case moisture got there. remove and dry, reinstall.

another thing to try is looking for vacuum lines that may have gotten knocked off or loose during the cleaning.

you're correct in trying to get the codes retrieved

Thats why I never clean the engine compartment with a water spray. I will clean stuff with other methods, but when you spray with water, you are asking to ruin stuff.

yeah code was 0303 cylinder 3 misfire. I tried to make sure both ends were dry but this morning it was all ok. What other methods of cleaning the engine bay do you use Khan Tyranitar?

I wipe it down. I have also cleaned parts while the were removed. For the most part, I don't worry about how he engine compartment looks. I will clean stuff that I'm dealing with, but I don't clean stuff for the sake of it.

Yes the remdiy is the same...I was trying to point out (badly apparently), that some older versions have coil packs and the newer ones, like yours, would have COPs. Regardless of which ignition style anyone has the 1st point of attack is to do simple maintenance of filters and clean IAC and MAF and check for vacuum leaks, then go after replace the plug/s of the affected area, (#4 in your case) and then IF it still has issues, then go after coil or coil pack, which ever the case maybe.

Generally when a misfire happens...mileage is fairly high already...for example 70- 100k & more, and one can pretty much say, it might be better just to replace all the spark plugs and if equipt with coil pack and plug wires, replace the wires as well.
the coil pack and or Coil on the plug (COP), do not have too many issues. Not to say that they won't or can't, just that it is less likely.

If that doesn't cure it then one needs to dive into it deeper
