Ive got an 05 F550 and the interior accessories randomly die and sometimes come back on in 10 seconds or a few hours and sometimes can go for a few days with no problems. the radio, gauges, powerwindows and some times but not allways the cabin light die the gauge background lights and lights behind heater dials still work but the red lights on the gauge dial go out and the power locks and all extirior lights still work and the truck runs fine. any ideas, help, thoughts would be very much appreciated.
I'd take a look at the accessory delay relay. It might be the one in the fuse box, which is easy to diagnose and fix. But it might be the one in the gauge cluster, which is harder to diagnose and a lot more expensive to fix.
Alright thanks I checked the relay in the fuse box which is fine but I didn't know there is one in the gauge cluster I'll have to check that one out
Thanks, Nick
Mine has the same symptoms on random start up's. If I give the dash a decent tap above the cluster, everything comes on immediately. So... I know it'll eventually get bad enough that I'll end up replacing the cluster (I've heard that's the only way to fix it.). Until then, I'll just live with it, since it only effects non-critical systems.
Yep. Whenever it happens, neither the stereo nor the power windows work. The odometer reads all zeros, and other stuff goes wonky, too. If I wait, sometimes everything comes back on by itself. But at this point, everything always returns to normal when I give dash a smack. I'll eventually pull the cluster and re-seat all the connections to see if that makes a difference, but I just haven't gotten to it yet. I'm not really looking forward to having to replace the cluster...
sounds like the exact same problem but giving the dash a good smack isnt bringing it back to normal and it is getting worse. one of the mechanics at work thinks it is probably the GEM/BCM. so im going to get it hocked up to a computer tomorrow and hopefuly figure this problem out. it is driving me nuts.
