I ordered an F550 diesel in august and it still is not in line to be built. the dealer said something about a restriction which has now been lifted and they should be building them shortly.
Anyone know about this? seems pretty long to wait for one. They do not even have a VIN yet for me. I have dealt with the dealer for several years so I do not think that they are feeding me a line. Just would like to have the truck here to replace my 2005 6.0.
I am shopping for a 550 right now and I was told by 3 differnt sales people that they will be building them in a week or so.. 6 to 8 weeks to delivery..
I dont know??? What are going to use your 550 for?? I am still stuck with my 03...I am looking forward to driving something that wont leave me stranded..
I am thinking about a 550 also for my construction business. Hey Robspowerstroke and Advocate, are you guys aware that the 2011 cab chassis only has 300 HP and 650 pounds of torque vs 400hp and 800 pounds for the pick up version. I have been trying to see if I can get the cab and chassis with the power of the pick up version but they said no dice. I think it totally sucks.
What do you guys think? Is that going to be enough power to keep us happy?
When the first powerstoke came out, they were about 210 HP & 425 TQ, that was enough to create smiles then! They have slowly gotten more powerful, but the warranty claims are much higher on a cab chassis. That is why they neutered the cab chassis trucks. 300Hp & 660Tq is enough for a 550. I have 362 HP & 457 TQ, and that gets it done. I've been loaded to 30,000 pounds with just a V10.

Yes I am aware about the power loss but after haveing a 2003 6.0 I would rather have a reliable truck anyday over a hot rod..I am HD subcontractor mechanic with a 12' service body..My 2003 wieghs in at about 22,000 lbs.. My 6.0 has left me stranded 5 times over the years...112,000km to date.. Good truck.. crappy engine..I just hope the 6.7 is a ringer..I think I would be very happy with 650 ft lbs of torque..
it has 25 less HP then my 6.0 has, but 90 more torque at lower rpm. This allows me to go with a 4.30 gear instead of a 4.88 and should pull near max towing better then my 6.0 can especially with the new 6 speed.
I am not sure but I think I read that they are rated differently for emissions and hp/torque. Maybe the difference is not as much as it seems. Maybe it is rated at that power at a certain load or engine temp...
All I know is that once ford builds it for me I can tie some serious weight to it and give you guys a good comparision to the old 6.0.
