I recently replaced all the orings and rubber fuel lines associated with my fuel bowl. When I replaced the fuel lines I asked several parts stores if I could use regular black fuel line on a diesel truck and they all said fuel line is fuel line. But I just read a thread where someone said the fuel lines are special heat resistant. I'm talking about the little short lines between the fuel bowl and the pump. Am I going to have problems? Has anyone else used regular fuel lines and did it hold up ok? Do I need to replace those with fuel lines from the dealer?

You can use anything else that meets SAE J30R9 specs.
'MPI/Fuel Injection' hose, 30R9 spec, was recently tested to meet some diesel hose requirements at Freightliner and was passed on to the truck market. The hose meets a 302F temp requirement making it ideal for the engine valley on our trucks.*
I don't know what I used. It came from Napa so I suppose I could call them and ask if they know the specs on it. Thanks for the info.
Just did a quick search and it appears J30R9 spec is used in fuel injection systems which I thought was high pressure stuff. I didn't replace anything on the high pressure side, just the little short pieces from the bowl to the pump.
It will work ok, but will not last as long as the blue hoses from ford. What you have is not rated as high for temperature as the blue ones. Quite a few guys on here run it though, so don't worry too much about it.

I agree with Darin. I used the highest temp/psi rated diesel line from Napa because I didn't plan ahead and get the blue stuff. Now I just keep the extra I had leftover in the truck in case they happen to let go.

What is the temp/psi rate of the blue hoses from Ford?
