my tranny went out about 1 year ago. took it to ford and they sold me on putting a reman tranny in it. it is not a daily driver, currently has 7K to 8K on the reman tranny. it is under warranty, but want to be educated prior to taking it back to them. it has prefromed great until this week end. about 2 1/2 hours into a 4 hour trip, it started shifting bad. when i would come into a small town and slow down below about 15 mph or come to a complete stop and than start to accelerate, it would shift way to early and erratically. normally it does not shift out of a gear until rpms are above 2k, i do not know exactly, but it would shift so soon, the engine will be really lugged down and caused it to pop a CEL several times. it would be in third or drive and i was only going maybe 20 something. no issue at highway speed, run all day long at 80mph. i could shift it manually and it would do fine. stopped and had dinner, truck cooled down and no issues for the remainder of the trip down. on the way back home it started do the same thing after 30 minutes and continued all the way home. Today no issue on the 1 hour drive to work and 1 hour drive home. What do ya'll think? do you think tranny or something electronic? Thanks in advance, this site has helped me alot, wish i would have found it prior to putting a reman in my truck.
I have had a similar experience with my rebuilt E40D. No CEL though. I presumed it was heat related at the time. Only happened one time and hasn't happened again.
