I have 6 CD's stuck! When trying to play or eject, I get an error message on the display.. I am hesitant to pry the front plate up too much. The radio and all other controls work fine.. I have messed with this for 2 weeks now hoping weather/temp shifts might help, but no such luck. maybe it was my choice of music that did me in!
Yank it out, pull your CDs, and get yourself a new one...
Mine went around October '09 and it sucked not being able to listen to CDs anymore, so I went with the radio out of an '06 escape. 2004 F250 Stereo Upgrade
Talk about worth every penny! It give you the stock look, but has MP3, sat, and aux inputs. Way better than an aftermarket radio I was considering...I'm planning on the PIE mod before a road trip in the spring.
Bill, sometimes the CD changer will respond to a solid hit from your fist on the dash above it. When mine did the same thing yours is doing beating on the dash helped me get the CD's out.
Just get you an aftermarket replacement that will play MP3's and connect to an IPOD or ZUNE player. Take the old one out and throw it at dog or use it for target practice.
Pull the radio out and disconnect the harness for a moment.
Reconnect it and it should work till next time.
My unit does that once every few months but I'm used to it by now.
All you loose are your radio pre-settings.
discovered after a couple of 'stuck disc' episodes what the cause was, at least in my truck; it was heat. Ever ejected a disc out of that 6-disc changer after a long drive? In mine, it was nearly too hot to handle.
I installed a small 12V electronics cooling blower to dissipate the heat from the unit and haven't had a problem since. I wish I had taken pics when I had it apart to share with you; not real attentive to stuff like that.
Those visor cd holders too will warp the cds slightly and make them stick. Especially if u stick stuff between the holder and the visor....Ask me how I know
