Why did Ford come out with another CPS? Is it better than the grey, or just another fumble by a different color?

With the black INTL CCT always passes as well.
My comment wasn't a poke at you. It was a poke at Ford for "fixing" the black CPS with the grey one, only to have to "fix" the grey one with the blurple one.

I never even thought you were taking a poke at me.
My post was just to confirm want you posted.
So tell me, how tall is an e99 pedestal? I thought I came up with a 1 1/2" difference when I had a late and early side-by-side. I wasn't sure so didn't want to mislead you.
You are unable to run a rotational velocity on early 99 trucks unless you have swapped in a later PCM though.
What do you men by running a rotational velocity? Is this a way to test your injectors? I recently updated to the NVK4 pcm in my E99. I am curious to know what all I gained other than the better shifting and running of the truck. Give me a list please. You have to make me feel better about frying my E99 one .
I am also curious about my injectors as well. Mine are stockers and I have 161k on the engine. Which way should I test them?
I heard that running stage II's on a stock turbo is a biiiig improvement but is it that hard on the turbo? Since the Hybrids are only a couple hundred more expensive now, would it be worth getting those? I know that I really wouldn't want to run the hybrids with a stock turbo though.

Bryce,
I'm still thinking about the advice I can offer and it's getting late. Check this thread tomorrow. As an Early 99 owner which is now a "Not So Early 99" I have some experience to share when it comes to power upgrades. I also have experience with AE testing and data logging.

Bryce, I too did the e99 to late 99-03 conversion. You need to either (A) get all the boots, up pipes, turbo, intake mans, spider, pedestal, or you can (B) go with a dominator 66 turbo. I just went iwht a van turbo and all new stuff, so I can't speak for the D66, but I've been told it's a good option if you don't want to change everything else out. The e99 turbo is great because it spools up fast, but that menas it also tops out quicker, so with stage II's you'll be rolling a lotta coal. With a 99-03 size turbo (van, TN, 38r) you'll smoke a bit on the low end, but once the turbo lights up, hold on!

Hmmmm... Ya I have looked into both options before. Some people swear by the D66 and others say dont do it because then you are stuck with it, and if you want to change anything after that, then you are replacing everything, AND the turbo.
I dont know if I want to put all that money into the early to late conversion and a turbo. I mean, with the conversion and a 38R, its a $2,300 to $2400 upgrade. I would love to have it don't get me wrong, but that is a good chunk of change. Plus, I want to keep my trans tip top shape and not reduce the longevity of it.
That is what makes me want to lean toward the D66. Maybe I will do some more reading into it....
Ok, check this thread out. I also looked into beans site. Looks like the drop in D66 is $1425 + $300 core charge that you will get back if/when you send in your stocker.
As you can see in the thread, the guy running the D66 says that he doesn't think that his stage 1's quite push the turbo to its full potential. I already wanted to get stage 2's so I'm assuming that I would be better off buying and installing the stage 2's, and running those with my stocker turbo until I get the D66 (if that is what I decide to do)?
I mean, the guy is putting up 412 hp and 755 tq. That is most likely with custom tunes. I am not looking to hit 500hp or anything. But I'm sure that stage 2's and a D66 would put me over 4 huh? What do you think I have right now?
The e99 is rated at 250hp 500 tq but I have the 4" turbo back EXH, 6637 intake, and superchips on performance which gives abou 100hp and 200 ft*lb tq.
Simple math says I'm at about 350hp 700tq but what do you think?
Bryce, I can say this about hp numbers- I dyno'd my truck with the following in it- AFE intake, 4" straight exhaust, Swamps 175/146 (stage I) injectors, e99 turbo, and DP tuner. I'm not sure if the tuner was at 120 race or 140 extreme, but my numbers where 320hp 704 tq. So take the numbers tuner companies throw out with a grain of salt, or at least at the wheels anyways. I got a van turbo on it now, so I have no idea what I'm making now.
hmm. I see. OK, well thats good to know about what I have. What about what I would get with the D66, stage 2's, and a DP tuner? haha. Look at me dreaming.
Or how about with the set up that I have now + the Stage 2's
It appears while I have been thinking about it and answering a PM asking the same question about HP improvement on an E99 Danny has pretty much suggested what I would have.
Good stuff Danny.
One thing I do have to suggest is if you still have a 15° HPOP swap it out with a 17° HPOP. You will get higher and more sustainable ICP at the top end. The improvement is worth it.
