OK, so I remember seeing a thread where we were talking about injectors so I decided to run some tests myself but in the AE tool for live data meter I don't see anything that allows me to read the contribution for each cylinder.
However when I run a KOER test I get P0284: Cylinder 8 Injector Circuit Contribution / Balance Fault.
Anything to worry about and how can I run more tests on my injectors?
Click on Test OnBoard System just like you did for KOER test. Under KOER drop down menu look for Cylinder Contribution Test. EOT should be 140 degrees to run the test. Engine at idle and all accessories off until test ends.
If you have a gray CPS #8 will always show a CCT balance fault. #3 can also fail with the gray CPS.
On the AE live data tab, it's called Change in Rotational Velocity Cylinder 1, Cylinder 2, etc. You can select each cylinder on the live data tab and still have one more box to watch things. I like to fill the last spot with EOT so I can try and compare things near the same temperature.
Ahh, ok. Well I ran the test. Haven't looking at the live data yet. I'll do that tomorrow and get a snap shot but I have a black CPS. I changed it out as soon as I found out about the grey CPS not long after buying the truck.
Anyhow, I will get a screen shot of the live data tomorrow after running the truck around a bit and getting her warmed up.
Oh, and when I ran the test my oil temp was at 165.

If you do not have some type of fuel return kit that opens up the dead end fuel rail on the driver side #8 is not getting the proper amount of fuel and may cause the contribution fault. Could be that #8 is just getting more worn out then the others because it doesn't get as much fuel and therefore not as much lubrication in the fueling part of he injector.
I haven't found a way to look at live data for the CCT. I have never seen it show up on the live data grid or the live data meters like the rotational velocity test. If you find a way let me know.
Will do, I'll be playing with it, but in regards to the #8 I do have Clay's FRx kit for the fuel, but I bought the truck used and it may be that it's already a bit worn out and may need to be replaced. However when I go to do the injectors I plan on doing them ALL at once.
If I remember right Clay or someone else stated the best to get if you are going to stay stock is the AD's.
You are unable to run a rotational velocity on early 99 trucks unless you have swapped in a later PCM though.
So that's why mine showed no faults huh? I gotta question, so if the grey CPS is bad enough, what would cuase a black one to show cyls 1, 4, and 8 to be off? I've asked this before, and got the usual answer that 8 is always gonna be off, but with a regulated return you'd think that the fuel situation is taken care of, so it's gotta be a "bad" CPS? I know there's no moving parts in the CPS to go bad, but I would imagine they can and do get out of sync or alignment or whatever it is that keeps them firing your injectors properly, right?

#8 will show a contribution fault after running a CCT with a brand new gray CPS.
I can pass CCT with this newest CPS,on right, or the Black International. I have a Black one installed now. Always passes CCT.
Edit : AD codes can supply a larger volume of fuel then ABs. Definitely go with the ADs.
The thing is is that I'm running the black, I think it's time for a new one maybe, I might try swapping the grey one in to see the difference. As soon as the dealer put the grey one in, I took it home and swapped it with my black back up. Thanks for posting the pics with the part number!

Just to make things clear the one on the right in the other post, DU-87, is the newest out at Ford. It's a blue that is nearly black with a purple o-ring.
OK, well checked for the Rotational.... and it's not listed, Clay is right :-( Going to have to update my PCM at some point, I'm tired of not having all the things I should have on this old PCM.
I also ran the KOER Cylinder Contribution test and still get P0284. Probably should just replace the injectors at some point. I have lots of things to do on this truck, just not a lot of money atm. I can't wait to start making some real stinking money!
