ok here is the question. i need new shocks for my superduty. beilstiens are to high. i have narrowed it down to 2 choices. so if you had to pick one of the two which one would you pick? need to decide quick the monroes are buy three get one free and the pro comps are 150 for 4 on ebay. course that is minus the boot which i would get.
I agree with Redford. I've installed various sets of aftermarket shocks and have never been satisfied. I even decided to try a set of Rancho's since some Super Duties came from the factory with them. They're worn out in a relatively short time (at least shorter than the stock Motorcraft) and it seems after one winter with the road salt and all they look like holy hell. I went back to the original equipment shocks.
I'm with all the guys on this, save up and get some good ones. $67 is a pretty good price for Bilsteins. I've got them on my truck and love them. Unloaded the ride is a little stiffer, but load up the bed and it rides like there aren't bumps on the road (and I live in pa! our roads suck.)
Save your money for the Bilsteins, my dad laughed at me for spending that much for shocks , he put monroes on his 6months later .But I got the last laugh when he had to replace the monroes , and still haven't had to replace the Bilstiens. We drive about the same miles .
Buy the best and you'll only cry once. Buy the bargain and you'll cry every time you drive.
If I were buying today, I would probably go with Rancho 9000XL for the adjustability. But since I bought the best the first time, I won't get to do that.
Rancho 9000XL adjustable shocks. Shockwarehouse.com has them buy 3 get 1 free.
Agreed! That's what I'm running now and I love them.
What "REDSLED08" said about the FX4 supplied Rancho's isn't a fair comparison. That's just Ford licensing the Rancho name - they're not even production Rancho shocks!
Sorry about your poll but most of us don't want you to make a choice we wouldn't make. Just opinion, of course...
That's what I used to say, but the Rancho adjustable 9000XL is the only way to go. The Bilsteins are a great shock, but they are on the stiff side for unloaded daily driving.
