Bilstein's are $67 each at ShockWarehouse.com. By the two for the front now and get 2 for the back later when you can afford it.
I agree with Bilsteins, just bought a set tonight at 4 Wheel Parts. Had them on order at ShockWarehouse.com and cancelled the order after waiting 6 weeks. Actually worked better for me though since I traded my truck while they were on order.
Blisteins on front and adjustable on rear . 75,000k on this set up and see no need to change . But if Blis ever fail I might change to adjustables in front .

The Monroe Reflex is a high quality shock, nothing like the generic "parts house" blue or yellow models. It's the same shock as the Rancho RSX, just has a different color paint. I put them on my work truck (2001 F150), and that truck has approx 170K miles driven on those shocks. Still work great, ride well, and handle well. I put the same thing on my old '98 F150 that I sold my dad a couple of years ago. I put them on that truck at 115K miles, and he's well over 260K now-same thing...No issues, still work well, ride good, and handle good. Recently put them on our 2005 4WD Excursion. MUCH better than the stock junk, handles well, rides a bit firm-although not abusive, and handles load well. I don't have any experience with the Pro Comp shocks, so I can't say anything about them.
JL
I had some Monroes on my truck and they died faster than they should have. I put some Procomps on and they are great. I think alot of how they last is simply how you drive, what you drive on, and how bad you beat them up.
I do not get off road and beat them up to often so the Procomps work well for me and they ride nice and smooth. It just depends on personal preference and what type of ride you are looking for.
That's just my 2 cents worth eventhough it may not even bee worth that much. lol
I put my Bilsteins on today, 5150s on the front and 5100s on the rear. What a difference! Rides without the bouncing now. The Pro Comps that were on there had to be shot.
Wooow it was late but , no excuse though and no , not that many miles closer to 75,000 miles . What the He&& it was a long day and night and day again . The technology of shock valving in todays shocks are so much better than they were just 10yrs ago . The Bilsteins are very good , and I like the ability to ajust my rear shocks along with my air ride height , depending on load weight and road conditions as I travel down the road.
I am brand new to the Ford Super Duty. Dogde convert. Anyway, I am really dissapointed on how my 07 250 rides. Currently it has Rancho Shocks. 5 days a week I'm on the interstate with no lodad at all. Weekends I normal pull the boat of my lowboy trailer loaded up. I read most of your discussions about Bilsteins and Procomp shocks. I just need a soft ride. Any help would be most appreciated.

Don't forget what I said about Rancho earlier - if your truck is an FX4, they say Rancho but are not. Ford just licensed the Rancho name for the FX4's shocks! I've got Rancho RS9000XL's and they're awesome.

Welcome to FTE! Adjustable Rancho shocks would probably be best for you. Or you could always throw a couple hundred pounds of sand bags in the bed. That'll smooth out the ride.

I'll get under there and check that out. With these newer trucks, has anyone had any front end stabiltyat 70-75 mph going over bridges and rough road surface. The first time I pulled my boat I darn near lost control of the truck. Thought it was going to shutter off the road for a few seconds. Scared my wife really bad.

You might want to slow down, when towing. For all our sakes.
These trucks do have bump-steer pretty bad at times.
Check your steering stabilizer.
Make sure you are not unloading your front axle with too much tongue weight.
You can pretty much bet that dumping the OEM shocks is going to help at least some, if you also pay attention to the things above.

I think the OEM Rancho branded shocks are closer to actual Rancho that you guys like to admit. However, they are modeled after the Rancho 5000 series, and that series is simply too light for the Superduty. And I say that about the branded version, as well as the actual Rancho 5000 product. Stick with the 9000XL series if you go Rancho.
