Something doesn't smell right, I would think a fully rebuilt Ford tranny (By Ford) wouldn't have spray painting on anything for that matter, especially over the serial number tag, it. would be spotless, clean and dipped like you said Frank. Subscribing again, shees.
Yep....here we go again.
It wasn't a Ford reman, It was "allegedly" remanned by a company out of Orlando called Consolidated. And all i can find out about them is bad
reviews. But yes, It should have still been a clean case.
I already talked to the credit card co to dispute the charges.
This got me to thinking about an earlier thread, that I was unclear about. Does Jody do something that would otherwise be done with the JWVB. When I got the chip, the form asked if I had any tranny mods, and I selected "no". So I was wondering if he was making it shift different to make up for a lack of an aftermarket VB. And thus, should I have the chip reburned?
I was under the impression that you did not need to have the chip re-flashed for the JWVB, John and Jody work together. But its a good point you bring up.
I'll have to give Jody a call to confirm. My trans shifts a little hard before and after the JWVB. So maybe?
Thanks again Kevin. I am also looking into a BTS.
I'm thinking of taking legal action on the shop that attempted to rebuild my last trans. After two unsuccessful attempts to rebuild mine, he told me that he bought a crate reman from a company out of Orlando. Well, it looks like he put in a spraypainted junkyard trans.
Thats what got me started on tracing the tag numbers. Now I'm hoping he did get a JY trans, and that reman shop didn't gut a HD unit and put in the stock weak parts.
Maybe I can get something out of the first shop, and get this trans rebuilt if infact all of the Ford HD parts are still intact.
Here a pic of the trans that raised an eyebrow about it just coming out of a reman shop. It looks like dirt in the casting holes....I would think that the case would have been hot tanked and super clean, not still dirty.

I agree that he did pull a bait and switch just to get the job done and over with. Please keep the legal stuff out of here though, the powers that be from upon that ( against the guildelines)

I found something interesting on these "orange" transmission tags. Anyone shed some light on this?
"99-21-11 - Transmission (4R100) Service Procedure for orange service tagged transmissions
Problem - Selected transmissions have an orange "PRIOR TO REPAIR" tag on the transmission fluid
pan. the orange tag refers to this TSB which includes specific inst to be followed prior to replacement and/or repair
Action - Prior to 12/31/2000, Do not disassemble or repair these orange tagged
4R100 trans perform diagnostic steps, record your findings, and contact FMC"

Frank, Consolidated Rebuilders was at one time the rebuilder that rebuilt most or all of Fords rebuilt parts. I do not know if they are still working with Ford or not. Someone else on here may know. Fords rebuilt parts was packaged with label that stated " Consolidated Rebuilders a Ford Authorized rebuilder "
Edit to up date post, Conslodidated rebuilt parts were sold at Ford Dealer parts departments, they were packaged in green boxes with " Consolidated Rebuilders a Ford Authorized rebuilder " printed on the package.

Interesting...I found quite a few companys named "Consolidated" Not sure if its the same co or not that does transmissions
The one located in Sanford Fl. is supposed to be the company that did the trans.
I still think its a salvage trans.
Thanks for the info Bob, it gives me a glimmer of hope.
See ya in Texas

Frank, It could still be a salvage yard transmission, It may have been a replacement trans that had been put into the truck that is now in a salvage yard. That would explain the dirt on the transmission.
I hope you did get the hd version. But it's still not adding up to me. If you look on Ed's site and compare the msrp between the 6u... and the one you posted.
