I finally broke down and got a GPS and I want to mount it on the side of my lie-o-meter. (I can hear it better as that's closer to my good ear and it doesn't matter where it is located as far as seeing the route display because I can't see it without my reading glasses anyhow.)
Can I tap into 12v power in the console without risking overloading the circuit? Maybe fish a wire from the overhead map/dome light? I'm pretty ignorant on electrical stuff.
It is actually easier IMHO just to run the wire up there from under the dash. Just run it up the pillar and across the headliner. Reason is the GPS only needs around 5v. You can step the voltage down under the dash and then run it up to the unit.
