I've started looking for a replacement wiring harness for my truck, since I've recently discovered mine has problems (melted IPR plug, messed up wiring for the ICP sensor, and a few other hidden issues). I was looking for the engine wiring harness that comes off the 42-pin connector out to the UVC, glow plugs, IPR, ICP, coolant sensor, CPS, EBP sensor, etc. However, I was informed that a wiring harness from a 99-01 PSD might not work correctly, as there may be a slight difference in the pin-outs at the connector. I know the tach input signal is different for the 02/03 trucks, but I wasn't aware of a wiring difference at the engine harness (I just thought it was a PCM change). I was told I might encounter a few issues, such as alternator charging, coolant temp sensor being erratic, etc.
Does anyone have any info on the differences in wiring harnesses. I would like to get some info before I spend money on snatching one up for my truck.

I bought one for my truck already because I know that wiring doesn't last forever.
I'm saving it for the day that I need it.
I've already had to patch the existing one twice.
One was to fix a mistake that I made when playing with a 10k mod many years ago and the other one was to the AC pressure switch.
The wire simply broke apart inside the connector and I had to drive home with no AC on a hot summer vacation.
The new harness wasn't cheap, but having a truck go down while out of town can get a LOT more expensive.
.
But now you have me nervous that I might not have the right one and so I better get it out of the box and make sure.
Well I did get an email from another guy that I've been working with on tuning. He told me about the differences in pin-outs at the 42-pin connector. A wiring harness from a 99-01 will not work on my truck. I have to find one from a 02/03 truck that is configured like mine (automatic and non-California).
