I have a 2000 Ex (2WD) with the V10. It sat for about 8 months without being started. I got a new battery, changed the cable ends and replaced the plugs. The thing still will not start. It turns over just fine but never starts up.
Is there anything with the computer or the alarm system that could be causing the problem with the battery being dead for that long? Or maybe something else I am missing?
Did it sit in a moist environment? Maybe try checking connections to say crank sensor, cam sensor. Try checking fuses under dash, and under hood. If it ran when it was parked, it's gotta run now. Hate to sound like a smartass, but is there gas in it? Could possibly be gummed up fuel lines. Try pulling the fuel filter and turning the key to see if fuel squirts out. Place a rag or two under there to catch the fuel. Let us know. Maybe when the battery died it reset the alarm system or something in the PATS syatem or GEM.
It did run when it was parked. It's just been sitting outside in hot, humid Houston, TX weather. I checked the fuses under the dash, they all looked good. Will check the ones under hood too. Yes there is gas in it, about 5 gallons. I pulled the fuel filter last night but did not try to start it, I will try that tonight too.
I am going to drop the tank and replace the fuel pump. this is not my primary vehicle so I can take my time doing the R n R. Is there a tech procedure anywhere that documents the process?
