A great big Thanks to Steve83 I reset my speedometer in my 95 F-150 and its a new truck. All the shift points are correct and it no longer lags. I have to watch my speed now I used to hold the pedal half way down to cruise 65 mph one quarter the way down will give you 80 mph. And I have plenty of power from take off all the way past 75-80 mph. I didn't think it would have made such a difference.
The ORIGINAL post is on the Off-Road.com BBS, but I reorganized the info & reposted it. This is the reorganized version, and this is the original thread.
I just got new tires at wal mart, the vans tire placard says p235 75 R15XL, well I wanted LT235 75 R15s and they trew a fit! I'm gonna have to print the tire size chart and take it to them so they can see that the tires are roughly the same size. The LTs are a much tougher tire and when your pulling loads that what you need, the p tires just suck, even with the empty van they would sag and cause performance probs. Now I accelerate smooth again! yay!
--- I apologize for the silliness it is 1:15 AM EST and I am a little tired.
I have a 88 E150 and the speedometer is off by about 7-9 mph
I was wondering if this would affect how the transmission shifts.
i dont think it will because the speedometer is mechnical since its a 88. thanks for the help

I think so. But look on the bright side: you've helped stimulate the economy! As a check, you could try uninstalling it, recalibrating the PSOM, and see how the truck drives. If you preferr the way it is now, switch it back. If it's OK that way, put the TruSpeed on eBay.

Exactly which transmission do you have? If it's the E4OD, then the same thing that's causing the speedo error could cause the transmission to malfunction. You'd need to get the right set of plastic gears in the transmission to drive the speedo cable because the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is what the cable plugs into and it's what tells the trans when to shift.
Originally posted by lawless I believe it is a AOD transmission
So in your shift indicator, you have a black "D" in a white "O" background for overdrive, and then a white "D" for drive, and then "1", right? And also, a cable running from the throttle lever down the L side of the transmission? What's the TRANS code from the door sticker?
I have a 93 e40d. I dont have a plastic gear drive speed sensor? I try to recalibrate, but the reset button does not respond! if dash is bad or my psom is bad,,, will that cause my tranny to act crazy?
