I'm at a fricken loss. What can I do? The only code that we found, I'm to ignore it? From the info that I have found and drug out of people is that if the temp sensor is sending a bad signal to the computer (for example, -40°f) that would tell the engine that it's cold outside and make it run pig rich, thus creating the problem that I am having. It makes sense as the computer on my sled works the same way, the colder temps make the sensor send signals to the fuel system telling it to add fuel and air. Thus, running richer.
Maybe so, but I believe that coolant temperature isnt figured into programming for fuel. Engine oil is, as well as air temp. And seems like I remember reading Barometric pressure too. What type of scanner are you using?
Greg already gave you the correct answer about the coolant temp sensor
So the scanner will just default to the bad temp? The codes were reset and nothing is jumping up at me. Where do I go from here?
If the oil temp sending unit/sensor is bad but not throwing a code, just replace it and see? I already have that sensor as the guy at Autozone gave me the wrong part number. Where is that unit located on my motor? AllData.com is not giving me all the data. I don't know where else to look.
I have already had one of the valve cover harnesses replaced and when that went, my truck wouldn't even start. It runs now but when it gets hot, it acts up.

I don't know. It's my brother's and he was running it. I'll check when we get to work this morning.
Does anybody have some pics of the Engine oil temperature sensor? The guy at the parts store has given me the wrong stuff. It seems that he is incapable of cross referencing Ford part nos.
Also, late last night I discovered something and it got me to thinking. While we were running the scanner I noticed a pretty steady fuel leak dripping from the large fuel line located on the driver's side of the fuel bowl. If that was messing with my fuel pressure wouldn't that cause the missing and poorly running issues? If fuel is dripping out, that means air is getting in, which probably isn't good for fuel pressure. Correct?
Bear with me please. I'm learning at it's a PITA. I appreciate the advice so far.

No, the fuel pressure is not monitored by the PCM in any way. When you get time give me a call and lets see if we can narrow this down. It seems like you are being forced to jump from symtom to symtom and it is hard to follow on here.
P0344 code. Cam position sensor intermittent. I'm just gonna replace the sensor. Seems that the plastic cover has been very slightly scratched, most likely when the cam gear got it's broken teeth. I pulled it to check for metal shavings and there were none.
Let me know if there is something you need from the Denver area. I can't drive at the moment due to broken ankle but could have wife drive up on Monday if needed. We were planning on making a trip to the mountains anyway for some geocaching. Would be happy to help out if needed. Good luck!
