I have a 2007 Limited Edition Expedition that was originally from Texas. The Navigation system (factory OEM), came a DVD that has a 6P version label.
Quite frequently the system displays a message that the DVD is not readable and possibly scratched or un-usable – whatever the message says to that effect. I took it to a local gaming place where they can repair CD’s and DVD for children’s games, etc. After a $5.00 polishing job the thing looks like a mirror, however it still doesn’t work.
So here’s the dilemma, I really don’t fell like buying another current 9P DVD from Navteq for $199.00 to continue my troubleshooting of the problem, nor do I want to spend the money to have the local dealer investigate the Pioneer head unit. So my thought is to see if there’s anyone out there, or if anyone might know of a place to get older copies of a compatible DVD for testing? I’ve heard that eBay is a place to stay away from for things like this. What I’m looking for is perhaps someone who might have access to a dealership that might have an old DVD they’d like to send off to Alaska for a good cause.
I purchased my 6P NavTeq DVD from ebay and have had no problems. Just make sure that they are selling a factory DVD. The 4P sells for about $15-$25 which is not a large investment.
