4-Cylinder Oil Filter - What A Peanut!

Changed oil & filter for the second time for the Escape down in my signature.

What a little peanut of an oil filter! The last 4 cylinder cars we had were back in the 80's, those had regular-diameter oil filters, just shorter, more like the FL-820s of Ford Trucks after the FL-1A was no longer spec'd for newer trucks.

The first oil change on the Escape I put on a FL-910. I noticed that the second one I got is an FL-910s, the "s" being the silicone anti-drainback valve.

Don't know if parts stores are all switching over to the "s" version now, or what.

I couldn't use my regular link-adjustable filter wrench that has worked on everything before. But I also had a much smaller contracting-band type of filter wrench laying around, don't know what I bought that for, but it worked OK.

I mark the end of the filter before I install it, so I know how far I'm tightening after the gasket contacts. Now I have to be careful not to over-tighten that little peanut of a filter!
