2007 Escape Alternator replacement

I am in the middle of replacing my alternator, I have read all the posts I can find on the net about doing this and for the most part they are correct but are on older escapes. My 2007 escape has a heat cowling on the back side and a snorkle that wraps around the top of the alternator. one of the brackets for this shield is blocking access to the top mounting bolt and I cannot seem to get at the third bolt to loosen this bracket enough to get at the top mounting bolt. Can anyone shed some light on this cowling and how to get it off?

So far I have removed the axle and the side plastic shield .. Do I have to remove the exhaust to get at this bolt or??

Man what a PITA it is to do this....
