Motorcraft Filter # changed?

Hi Fellas,

Some information lists the proper Motorcraft oil filter for my 2006, 2.3L - 4-cylinder, Ranger is a FL-400S. Other information says it should be a FL-910.

Did the FL-910 supersede the FL-400S or what?

Thanks in Advance, Guys!

The FL-910 has the same threads & bypass psi range, but is shorter in height to fit in restricted spaces. I still use the specified FL-400S on my 94 Taurus 3.8L.

Thanks PawPaw for the filter information!

I'll likely do the same and stay with the larger FL-400S filter - this 2.3L has lots of room at the filter area.

Good idea to stay with the specified larger filter, as with more filter media surface area, it'll offer lower pressure drop across the media & it'll appreciate that when we go at throttle up, or on those cold high rpm starts!!!!
