Unstoppable Ranger FX4 Plows Through Fresh Snow with Ease

**Canadian gearheads from Car Question made a great video of a Ford Ranger FX4 off-roading — for 10 glorious minutes!**

As more and more outlets review the 2019 Ford Ranger FX4 off-road, the better the news. As we know, the FX4 package comes with all the essential goodies for a good off-roading outing. Steel skid plates and bash guards, tuned suspension and all-terrain tires all come off the lot with the FX4 package. To make matters more interesting, the FX4 package also includes a locking rear differential, and an innovative and powerful terrain management system (yes, like in the F-150 Raptor). All of which Mathieu Thomassin put to good use after his original plans for the Ranger flopped.

“Originally we were supposed to do a towing video with the Ranger, but we’re going to have to do that another time.” says Thomassin in his video. “Mother nature doesn’t want to collaborate with us today. She thought we had other plans when we saw what was outside.”

What Thomassin was referring to, of course, was a thick white blanket of powdery, Canadian snow. Luckily for us watching the video, Thomassin wasn’t bothered by the change in plans at all. He made the decision that most of use on FTE Forums would make: when life gives you fresh snow, make donuts.

“You know, we know, everybody knows we love snow here on Car Question,” says Thomassin. “So, we’re going to send the Ford Ranger to have some real fun in what’s fallen outside.”

From that moment on, the video was pure, unadulterated snow driving in the Ranger. No driver commentary, no comments from the person filming. The soundtrack of the ten minute minute video was the 2.3 liter EcoBoost working hard, the snow falling, and the turbo whistle. No matter how hard Thomassin pushed the Ford, it would not get stuck. There were some occasional moments during a hill climb where the truck would pause and look a little sketchy. Though, Thomassin knew better — he’d put the Ranger in reverse and pick a different line. With his precise and focused direction, the Ranger was quite literally unstoppable.

Day 2

Then the viewers were made aware of a second day of snow driving. On the second day, there was visibly a lot more snow. So much so, that all evidence of the previous day’s antics were completely blanketed. Not to worry though, Thomassin wasted no time in showing that field who’s boss.

The second day went very similarly to the first day — lots of donuts, hill climbs, and turbo whistle. In the video’s description, Thomassin says about the Ranger: “Just lock that rear diff and: just send it! This Ford Ranger off-road is a beast when it comes to winter fun and snowdrift! (Even if it’s not the Ford Ranger Raptor).” Sounds like some excellent advice to us, especially after seeing how effective it is.
