TOTAL RECALL The My Actual Car Edition
We’ve been covering a lot of recalls lately, especially with the big Takata fiasco. But my own little Ford product has avoided the brunt of it. That is, until today.
I own a 2011 Ford Fiesta, and the Fiesta was recently issued a recall for a door latch issue. We covered the recall right here. We’ve also talked about what to do if your vehicle is recalled. Since I own one of the affected vehicles, I’m going to take you through the process of getting a factory recall fixed.
I knew that my vehicle was probably going to be affected based on the recall story, but I received official confirmation in the mail today. I could’ve also checked my VIN at the Safercar.gov website.
I am due for a factory service, so when scheduling that I will mention that my vehicle is one of the recalled. The letter advises me to wait until they notify me again of the part being available, but if the dealer can fix it all in one shot, that’d be great.
I won’t call the dealer now, since I’m not experiencing any issues.
The goal is to document my process so you can see how getting a recall fixed actually works.
