TOTAL RECALL You Gotta Be Kidding Me Takata Edition
What’s worse than the GM Ignition Switch recall? The Tylenol Recall. What’s worse than the Tylenol Recall? The Takata Airbag Recall. Ford has expanded their recall now to include over 1.4 million vehicles. Yes, that’s a lot of cars!
According to Ford, these are the affected vehicles:
2005-2014 Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant for driver side airbag inflators;
2005-2006 Ford GT vehicles built at Wixom Assembly Plant for driver side airbag inflators;
2004 Ford Rangers built in North America at Edison Assembly Plant and
2004-2006 Ford Rangers built at Twin Cities Assembly for passenger side airbag inflators.
This recall, if you haven’t heard, is a big deal because during airbag deployment, shrapnel could fly from the airbag and injure or kill the driver or occupants.
Ford is only aware of one incident where an injury could be blamed on the airbag, but other automakers have been hit much worse. This is now officially the largest recall in history, and not just automotive history.
To see if your vehicle is affected, Safercar.gov and search by your vehicle’s VIN.
