TOTAL RECALL Ford Increasing Number of Vehicles Recalled for Door Latches to 545,906
If you own a 2011-14 Fiesta, a 2013-14 Fusion, or a 2013-14 Lincoln MKZ, listen up. Ford recalled approximately 390,000 of them in North America late last month. Now it’s bumping that number up to 545,906.
The majority of those vehicles, 456,440, are in the United States. The rest of them are either in Canada or Mexico.
According to the Blue Oval, “The door latch in certain vehicles may experience a broken pawl spring tab, which typically results in a condition where the door will not latch. If a customer is then able to latch the door, there is a potential the door may unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury.” Two complaints have been filed about an unlatched door bouncing back when a customer tried to close it. One has been filed about an unlatched door swinging open and hitting an adjacent vehicle as a driver was entering a parking space.
You can check the handy list below to see if you’ll need to bring your vehicle in to your local dealership so all four of its door latches can be replaced free of charge:
