Hot as Blue Blazes: Two Tone Tuesday

1968 F-100

True blue Ford trucks beautifully show off the enticing options from one end of the color spectrum.

Maybe it is the weather. Maybe it is the post-Holiday doldrums. But lately we’ve been a little…blue. And, because we’re feeling a little literal, we decided to shine the spotlight on some very cool two tone Ford trucks that feature–what else?–blue.

This week’s Two Tone Tuesday is our version of a blue plate special. And we didn’t need go very far to find these two killer rigs. Both were discovered in our own backyard: the FTE forums. Both represent how blue can be a brilliant and inspired choice in two tone paint.

You’re My Boy, Blue!

1979 F-150 Ranger Lariat

This 1979 F-150 Ranger Lariat 4wd comes to us from our own Ford Truck Enthusiasts forums. Owned by user Scottscott, this F-150 is a gorgeous sixth-generation F-series, made by Ford from 1973-1979. Scottscott has exceptionally maintained his truck.

Especially head-turning is the interior.

To find the right seating, he had to do a little work, and get a little creative. The results are very slick. “Seat covers are reproduced for the Lariat,” he wrote in a thread. “I purchased mine from Lynn at New England Mustang and was very happy with the cover. The service I got from Lynn was the best I have ever had from any vendor in my life…The cover has held up excellent, it looks better today than when I installed it 3+ years ago. I searched for years for blue Lariat door panel inserts, found every color but blue. I ended up dyeing the best set I found blue. Worked out well. Ultimately, make the interior the color you want!”

Tough and the clean (with the perfect badging) this big blue beast is irresistible.

Damn Right I Got The Blues

Blue on blue never looked better than on this 1968 F-100. Owner Thedemoguy shared his pride and joy on our forums. A classic Ford truck that looks just about perfect, it makes us more than a little green with envy.

1968 F-100

The shortbed F-100 truck is a vision from every angle. Fifth-generation F-series trucks, often called “bumpsides,” were produced by Ford from 1966–1972. Thedemoguy has kept his truck utterly kickass. We love the lighter blue hues, they really make the chrome and silver of the trim and grille pop.

1968 F-100

Ownership of an older truck comes with surprises, as Thedemoguy found out. “I recently purchased a 1968 F-100 shortbed and it looks to have a factory auxiliary fuel tank,” he wrote in a recent thread.

Got a two tone truck? We’d love to see it! Share in the comments or join in the conversation in the forums!
