Ford Explorer Goes On Insane Off-road Adventure In Mexico

Baja’d out Ford Explorer catches some crazy hangtime in Mexico in an abandoned water park and on a beach.

This is not your typical case of “filmed in Mexico” coming as an alleged release of liability. It actually is in Mexico! This battered Ford Explorer is built for nothing more than a good time, and that’s exactly what it’s used for. A roll cage, some beefy suspension, and big tires are all you need to have a rip-snorting good time offroad.

Hoonigan is in Estero Beach, Mexico for some Baja 500 coverage, and while down there managed to catch some awesome footage of this mad adventure. Bearing the Dale Earnhardt number three on the side of any vehicle comes with a lot of responsibility to uphold. However, we think they managed quite well. The footage shows them in search of a good jump, starting with an abandoned water park.

While the water park did create some spectacular scenes as the explorer jumped its way in and out of an empty pool, our hooning heroes just couldn’t be gratified without more hang time.

Flying Baja Ford Explorer

Luckily, they stumbled upon a man working with a backhoe who was perfectly willing to build them a jump on the beach. After a few warm-up hits, the explorer soars through the air like it’s born to fly. Through various angles, it’s easy to see just how high off the ground this little beast really is. Not only do we have to give kudos for the build, but we also have to respect the fearlessness of that driver!

If you are curious about the build, Hoonigan also has you covered with a series of videos dating all the way back to its purchased day. We know it’s not the cheapest build out there. However, it’s proof that you don’t need a monumental budget to build an offroad fun car. In fact, you don’t even need a V8!
