Earthroamer LTi is handsome and capable

The Earthroamer LTi is part F-550, part home, and part offroad beast. And it’s going to save your life when zombies rise from the dead.

Overlanding rigs are off-road-capable vehicles that can also carry gear and provide living quarters. Vehicles in the overland/adventure segment can be anything from a very modified Jeep to full-sized heavy-duty expedition trucks. The Earthroamer LTi is built for luxury adventure travel or zombie escape.

The Earthroamer factory in Dacono, Colorado has been manufacturing expedition vehicles since 1998. The LTi begins with an F550 cab chassis straight from Ford. Earthroamer then tasks their team of 110 craftsmen to modify the vehicle and add all of the components to create an overland truck from a bare Ford.

Earthroamers can be outfitted with many different options or interior finishes depending on what a customer desires. This can include heavy-duty bumpers complete with offroad lights and winches. The Earthroamers are heavy enough (GVWR 19,500lbs) that you might not want your friend’s Jeep to be your only recovery option.

If you’ve ever owned an RV in a part of the world that has winter seasons you are familiar with the idea of winterizing. Most RVs are not built to handle freezing temperatures without developing frozen plumbing, broken pipes and lots of expensive heartaches. The Earthroamer LTi is designed with heating for its water supplies to prevent freezing. To save energy while driving the vehicle will circulate engine cooling fluid to warm the holding tanks. When parked heating is handled with a diesel-fueled heater to save electricity.

LTi Specs & Features

Earthroamer LTi Control Panel

The Earthroamer LTi boasts a 330hp 6.7L PowerStroke Turbo Diesel engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Despite its 42″ military spec tires and overall heft, it only averages 10-12mpg. However, the 95-gallon fuel tank gives it a 1,000-mile-range. For the purposes of expedition-level travel or a survivalist bug-out vehicle for the wealthier prepper, it also offers 100 gallons of water storage as well as 12,000 watt-hours of battery power.

The Earthroamer LTi has electronically controlled self-leveling air suspension, that can also be used to level the rig once it is parked. No hydraulic RV jacks needed on this bad boy!

Earthroamer LTi Solar Roof

Also, the roof is covered with solar cells providing 1300 watts of power that charges 12 kwh of battery capacity. This is used to power the camper aspect of the LTi, but is not used to generate heat. Instead, Earthroamer has added a diesel-powered heating unit for thermal duties.

Everything You Need for Life On and Off Road

Earthroamer LTi Interior

The interior of an LTi includes everything needed for living, from refrigerator/freezer to stovetop and sink. Options that a customer can choose from include materials, layout, color schemes, and includes options such as locking gun safes.

LTi is equipped with a mobile-capable satellite antenna. All of the LTi functions can be controlled via one central control panel. There are also outside security cameras with night vision, broadcasting to the web. This allows the owner to monitor the LTi for any intruding zombie hordes.

The net result is an offroad capable overland rig that can provide a home for weeks or even months of adventure, work or escape from an apocalypse. If you have access to the funds (about $750,000 USD plus or minus options) your chariot awaits!

Jay Leno’s Take

The best way to appreciate an Earthroamer LTi is to see one in person. But if you can’t do that, Jay Leno recently toured one and it’s a pretty awesome video to check out and see all the features up close.
