Ford Announces Ford GT Race Drivers for Le Mans
We always knew that the reason why Ford brought back the Ford GT was to return to the racing realm and beat the pants off of Ferrari once again. And the Blue Oval is getting ever closer to its, hopefully, triumphant return to the 24 hours of Le Mans in the next few months.
In the previous weeks, we’ve seen the car testing at Sebring, being run through its paces around Ford’s personal track, and a few other short videos detailing the upcoming racecar. Yet, until now, we didn’t know who would be piloting the brand new racecar to victory, again hopefully.
For the World Endurance Championship, which includes the famed 24 hours of Le Mans, Ford will rely on professional drivers consisting of Marino Franchitti, Stefan Mucke, Olivier Pla and Andy Priaulx. All four drivers have completed countless races and have all been to Le Mans before. However, Ford is rumored to also be bringing its USCC drivers to Le Mans as well as part of a four-car blitz on the competition.
According to Ford Performance’s Global Director Dave Pericak, “Make no mistake, we are racing to win.”
Who’s excited?
