1979 Ford F-150 Lives the Pampered Life
Most old trucks carry wear earned by years of hard work. But not this 1979 Ford F-150.
In the old days, trucks were disposable assets. Folks used them to work, and used them hard. When they broke, they’d fix them and soldier on. Back then, no one really had any kind of inkling that their trucks might one day be collector’s items. So most of the ones you find have their fair share of wear. On the other hand, some people took really good care of their trucks. And today, that’s actually a good thing we’re thankful for. Thankful because it brings us survivors like this gorgeous 1979 Ford F-150 for sale over at GR Auto Gallery.
The Lariat 4×4 looks just as good as it did rolling off the showroom floor way back when, a testament to the original owner. Clearly this truck didn’t live its life as a workhorse, as the 20 year-old repaint still shines like new. The only real clue as to the truck’s age lies under the hood, where the engine bay could use a little detailing. But in reality, that’s some serious nitpicking on an otherwise stunning truck.
Even the interior is said to be original, and boy is it in incredible condition. Hopping in the cab of this 1979 Ford F-150 is a real time warp, from the faux wood grain to the “fancy” (for 1979) bench seat. And like any good Lariat, there are some nice options here. They include things like the rarely seen 400 V8 and power steering and brakes.
The only deviations from stock are an old school Sparkomatic stereo and chrome wheels. Both of which are easily corrected for the originality buff. Otherwise, this 1979 Ford F-150 obviously lived a pampered life as an occasional cruiser. And for that, we’re thankful!
