‘Garage’ Days Re-Revisited: F-250 Tremor Serves Three Purposes in L.A.
F-250 Tremor promotes Leno’s show and welcomes people to the Galpin Hall of Customs.
Many of the vehicles on display at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show are simply there to give consumers a close-up look at a new model. The new Ford F-250 Tremor shown here is different, serving three purposes at once. While it obviously showcases the new Tremor package for the Super Duty lineup, it also promotes Jay Leno’s Garage with the unique livery. Also, sitting outside of the Galpin Hall of Customs, this factory-modified beast welcomes people to the custom portion of the show.
F-250 Tremor
The modern Tremor name was initially applied to an F-150 built for on-road performance, but the new Tremor is very different. The 2020 Tremor package is an off-road package for the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty models. In this case, the Tremor package has been applied to a new F-250 Lariat that lacks diesel badging, so we are guessing that this truck is packing the new 7.3-liter gasoline V8.
The 2020 F-250 Tremor also comes with the unique 18-inch matte black wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler rubber. A two-inch suspension lift provides ground clearance, as does a unique front air dam. If you get into deep trouble, skid plates protect the engine and transmission. A Dana limited-slip front axle and electronic-locking rear axle help those big tires get traction in the worst conditions.
Finally, along with the Tremor decals on the bedsides, the package adds power running boards to the 2020 F-250.
Tremor Power
The standard engine in the 2020 Ford F-250 Tremor is the new 7.3-liter gasoline V8. This mill delivers 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque with help from a 10-speed automatic. Those opting for this package can upgrade to the 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel V8 with 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
While we would expect for Jay Leno to drive the most powerful option, there are no PowerStroke badges on the doors of this truck. That leads us to believe that it is packing the new gas V8.
Triple Promo Machine
This Ford F-250 is positioned just outside of the Galpin Hall of Customs at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. The only real custom work is the wrap, which includes some unique graphics and the logo of Jay Leno’s Garage. That is Leno’s current program, so in addition to welcoming attendees to the custom car area and showing off the new Tremor package, this F-250 is plugging Leno’s web show.
Oddly, we can’t find a video of Jay Leno reviewing the 2020 F-250 Tremor on his show, but perhaps it will be featured in the near future.
