Ford Just Built the Slowest GT in Le Mans History

It is a week to remember for Ford Motor Company, but specially everyone involved with Ford Performance and the Chip Ganassi racing organization.

By this time next week, the epic return of the Ford GT to the 24 Hours of Le Mans will already be in the book, and we will all know just how successful they were… or were not.

To commemorate such comeback, LEGO has built nearly life-size replica of the famed race car, but with none other than 40,000 LEGO pieces. Although Ford or LEGO didn’t release just how long it took to put together the slowest Ford GT ever, they did mention it took a whole lot of patience on behalf of the builders.

A third the size of the real thing, the LEGO version will go on display at Circuit de la Sarthe, in Le Mans France, during the race weekend, alongside a model of the original Ford GT40 – a reminder that it is 50 years since that car scored a historic 1-2-3 at the legendary race track.

One more thing. LEGO, please build a Ford GT set!
