One Incredible Ford Truck Spans Three Generations
This 1972 Ford truck has been a part of the family for decades. Now, fully restored, it is ready to make more memories.
Most of us have very fond memories of that first Ford truck we experienced. Maybe that was the cool truck you’d ride in as a kid. Or it could be that first truck you drove. It makes an impression. Especially if that first, formidable truck happened to be a sweet classic two-toned 1972 Ford F-250.
Jasen Arias has a gorgeous old school 1972 Ford truck that has basically been a part of his family for generations. It was originally his grandfather’s truck. Over the years, his mom learned to drive in it, then the truck was passed down to his father for his business, and then it was Arias’ ride in high school.
But, as time went on, the truck was put away in storage. Arias decided this was far too special a rig to stay on blocks. So, four years ago he began to undertake a restoration project on what he calls Grandpa’s truck.
And wow, did he nail it.
He documented his progress online. And it took some time, and a lot of elbow grease; but the end result is just so sharp. We love it.
“When I posted a photo of my truck the other day I had no idea that it was the 4 year anniversary since pulling Grandpa’s truck out of storage…a storage unit that I had kept the truck in for EIGHTEEN YEARS!” he writes. “Before storage, I had taken over ownership of the truck my junior year of high school and quit driving it after the flood of 1997. Before that my Dad owned the truck for his cabinet shop. And before that my mom learned to drive [in it] when she was sixteen. And lastly before that my grandfather bought it new.”
“I always dreamed of being able to give Grandpa a ride in the truck, and that didn’t work out. But I know he would have been proud and loved how it’s turned out. Tough and not too flashy,” he adds.
Tough is right. Over the years Arias did a lot of work, most of which he did himself and posted on Instagram. He installed new parts and brakes, and kept the restoration perfectly OBS-correct.

“I did all the wrenching myself–outside of the tires being put on the rims–the restoration all came from these knuckles,” says Arias.
And this F-250 shows you don’t sleep on a classic Ford truck. Still capable, still tough, and still a beautiful beast on- and off-road.
“Needless to say, the truck has been through more than I can imagine,” says Arias. “But it still has a long way to go. My dream would be that one of my grand kids loves and drives it. And then one of their grand kids repeats the cycle.”
We have no doubt this ol’ girl will be around for a long time.
“I’m fairly certain my family thought I was nuts keeping her in storage for 18+ years at $110 a month,” he muses. “But to me I always knew it would be more than worth it. Either way, it’s fair to say that this truck is as close to being a family member as a vehicle can be. At least to me.”
Not us, we get it. And we applaud anyone who puts the time and energy into keeping a solid old-school Ford on the road and in the family.
