rusty drip edge

Hi Guys

Bought a 56 f100 recently and it has small rust holes right above the water channel above the windshield and above the doors. Since I know nothing about body work, I was wondering if someone could tell me if this something that can be fixed easily or if it is a tough fix

Thanks!

I'm not sure about the 56..but 53-55 the driprail is "sandwiched" between the roof panel and the rest..the repair depends on the amount of rust..if it goes THRU the rail and into the adjacent panel it could get tricky...three pieces to make and install.I suspect the 56 is the same.

I've heard some folks remove the rail completly for a different look..that could make things a little easier..

this is a typical failure place on the 56 above the brow.. hard to fix, mostly cause you have to get something to STOP the rust first.
there are also no patch panels or roof replacement sections for this problem.

Bill, I found a couple of ways to overcome that hurdle..I sometimes use one of the picnic table benches,..and sometimes the table itself, make sure it's in good shape and able to carry your weight.Works great when buffing, sanding etc when you need your to cover the entire roof !

If its just a tiny area its easily fixable but anything larger will be more tricky...
I've repaired small areas by removing any edges, treating the remaining metal then using fibreglass resin. You stick waterproof tape to the underside and then dribble the resin on top until it settles to the correct level. Then just leave it to set, and remove the tape the following day. As i said though, only suitable for tiny holes.
