so I just fixed exhaust leaks at the up-pipe, (added a rudy's diesel hd), fixed leaks at exhaust manifold, got rid of the kitty, added blue spring, replaced rad cap and added a mishimoto 200* stat.
My ect isn't going above 170 on a 70* sunny day in traffic. Any ideas? The old t stat was better than this.
When you ins.talled the thermostat did it seat in the housing fully. The way they say to install the thermostat is boil it in water and then install it into the housing while hot.
Did you get a new housing? How long has it been installed?
What number do you have on the t stat housing. It does matter. Also did you boil it in water to make sure it was seated right. The is wax in the t stat that has to be melted out. Last numbers on the housing should end in 91.
We just put it in, old housing. Am I going to have to pull it back out? It's been in about 40-50 miles is all.
On on the freeway I was getting 180*
Yep, you will have to take it back out and boil it to get it to release the first time. Mine did the same thing until I melted the seal. Once that is done, you should see temps around 200.
They claim it's from the heat cycles from shipping. The center rod in the thermostat is set in a wax and it pushes the rod out when it gets hot so the only way to reset it is to heat it and push the rod back in. I used a small butane torch to heat mine when I installed mine.
I boiled mine, fitted it with gloves, it was a right pain, and have a similar result. Runs around 185 no load on the flat. Maybe I have the same problem
Well, I live at altitude so it's closer to 205 for me 😜
The reason I ask, is i had a long hill on my commute today. Before the hill, temps were 180 or so.. so I turned on the a/c and drove like a d-bag up the hill and go the ect over 200. And after that it never dropped much below 195
