Help, rough starts

Ford 2005, 6.0 turbo diesel, reg oil change, air and fuel filters recently.
Hi all, I am getting rough starts on the cooler mornings. Almost like it is winter. Black smoke, rough running untill it smooths out then it is fine, and it is fine the rest of the day. Just the initial start up. Glow plug issue? Any help would be cool. Thanks P

I just got a innova obd2 scanner and got a PO 273 code - Cyl 5 injector circuit low.

Is it just a bad injector?
Must I replace it with a motorcraft injector

Also what is all this talk about flashing or having your truck flashed? Please, don;'t mean to be a dope, I am just learning.

I am sorry, i wasn't thinking.
It is a 2005, no mods, I change oil, filters regularly. I just changed the fuel filters. I am new to diesels, how often should you change the fuel filters? When i plug it in, it seems to start fine.

I had a similar issue; Check your FICM voltages before you do anything else. Search for DrQuad FICM repair and it will tell you how to test and repair if necessary.

just got a innova obd2 scanner and got a PO 273 code - Cyl 5 injector circuit low

if you do a buzz test will it always fail the injector?

odds are you have one of 3 things going on. either #5 injector has failed or is failing.
the ficm driver is bad.
or a harness issue.
I think I would check ficm voltage and if found good inspect the injector harness. if no concern is found replace the suspect injector.
one thing to note about #5 is that it sits under the heater controll valve check the vlave and see if its leaking. that may be the sorce of your failer and could have shorted the harness and or injector.
