Im shopping for a f150 to pull a 24 or 26 foot boat. I want it to be comfy and nice since I will drive it also for work.. I found this one, and I really like it..

I would try for $16,000 , and make them change the plugs. other than that it looks nice. but they want almost $19,000 and the truck is almost 7 years old

I think the truck looks clean!! I agree with danorules. I would try to get them down to 16. It is almost 7 years old.

Well that is the exact same as my truck. Almost same mileage too, I got 81,000. Looks good. They are too high, but it is crazy what our trucks are still worth, They have really rebounded from losing a lot of value a couple years ago.

Thanks for the input guys!

As for the plugs, are they a big deal to change? Not sure why I would have him change the plugs.

As for the price, I will try to negotiate him down. For a loaded f150 I think its a great value as you get alot for your money. $17K doesnt buy you much these days interms of a loaded truck/car/suv. The mileage is a little high but we all know 200K miles is nothing for these things if you maintain them.

I just want a boat hauler... And actually having a pick up would be nice so I can transport stuff instead of bothering family/friends.

Anything I should look for? Whats the highest I should go, 17k?

Thanks again guys..

the plugs on the 04 5.4 liter have an issue with breaking in the heads. this can be as easy as using a $200 removal tool, all the way up to sending the truck out to have the heads removed and tooled, $?,000. so if that is part of the sale then you don't have to worry about the plugs.do a search on the plug change on this forum and you will see all of the headaches that can occur.

Wow, I guess thats a dealer fee I will have to deal with...no way would I risk it doing it myself over spending a few hundred for a plug change once ever 100K miles!

Actually, there were problems with plugs breaking off on 5.4L engines manufactured through December 07. I'm not sure of the exact date. Seems like it was around the 12th. That's when the revised cylinder heads made it into production on these engines. That would make it the 08 model year.

Is it a safe bet taking it to the dealer to have them changed?

Before u decide i would say get a couple of more pic for instance he doesent show you the passenger side it could have a scratch or dent or something. He does say its in good condition but i trust a picture more than words But truck still look like its in good shape and i do agree wit price being a little high but recently everyone in the world has been wanting trucks so if you are looking to buy one now your just gonna have to deal with some high prices. Check tires to he never mentioned anything bout them.

I gave $13,700 for an '04 FX4 extended cab with 70,000 on it about 2 months ago. The truck booked for about $16,000. I was surprised I got it that cheap. Most trucks I've seen advertised are above book value between $1,000-$3000 over. I've been trying to move my '02 since I bought the '04, I think I finally got it sold for $2,000 over book value.
