overheating ...sort of ?
I'm a new-be ...I have a 2000 V10 Excursion, after about 20 miles or 2 hours worth of driving. Ex temp gauge taps out, not a gratually jump, goes start to overheating mode, engine boggs down no power but still runs NO LIQUID a check engine light comes on, Auto Zone said the code was P1299
At this time, pull off the road, let engine set for a few minutes and restart. engine acts like nothing has happened.
I have changed cylinder head sensor and connecter, temp sensor, new thermostat and flushed out radiator. Yesterday found a fuse that was blown, replaced that one with correct amp. Still have same problem.
I feel like this ..any help would be appricated.

You need to scan/datalog the computer and see what it thinks the coolant temperature is.
I've heard of this once or twice in the past, and after all else fails, the PCM is bad.
Not saying yours is, but you need to see what the PCM thinks the coolant temp is first, before we go any further.
Matter of fact, check the temp of the housing around the thermostat when it does this. If you have one of those "point and shoot" thermometers (infrared), point it at the thermostat housing and see what the real coolant temp is at the time it does this.
