dipstick tube

i have a 292Y in a 54 f250 with a rear sump pan.I have a truck dipstick tube, this Yblock never had a tube before,it waas a marine conv.tube was in the pan.I put the tube in the block and the tab lines up with the top bolt hole for the motor mount, but the dipstick seems too short.I could have the wrong dipstick,or does the tube have to go in farther,to line up with the bottom bolt hole,I hate to drive it in.I bought the stick at Carlile 2yrs. ago it was supposed to be for a 55 292,but who knows. If someone could give me the measurement for the dipstick,or tell me which bolt hole the tube tab goes in I would appreciate it F250 RED

The only 292 engines in 1955 were in Ford Passenger Cars & Thunderbird's. No 292's in trucks until 1957.

Is there a stamped Ford ID number on the dipstick you have now? If so...pass it along.

I cannot tell you the length of the correct dipstick, cuz the truck parts catalog doesn't say, but...

You don't have to go very far to get it...or to see it...in person.

I know this is old but I am looking for a 292 HD dipstick for a F-500 1961 292 It is 25.5 inches from tip to tube cover. Any suggestions?

Thanks

There are two types, differentiated by whether your engine originally came with Rams Horn exhaust or not.

Without Rams Horn: C1TE-6750-A 26.58" from shield to end, 25.58" from shield to add, 24.67" from shield to full mark. Used with C1TE-6754-B ~18 3/4" tube.

With Rams Horn: C1TZ-6750-A 25.15" from shield to end, 24.02" from shield to add, 23" from shield to full mark. Used with C1TZ-6754-A 19 1/2" tube.

Well here I go. My F-100 was modified with a 312 T bird engine and tyranny my dip.stick works out when I run the truck about 4 inches. That's weird git to be a reason haven't measured the tube. But it's flaired and the upper portion has a mount hole and plate welded onto the dip stick tube. But it did not line up with the hole in the block Bout an inch separation. The generator mount was in the way remove the generator mount and the tube fitting bolted right into the engine block. So I was designed to run under the generator engine top.mount. I applied high temp gasket seal. You could see the tube was leaking at the case. AJ
