Unhappy loss of power

I have a 2010 f250, obviously a 6.4 powerstroke since im here. the truck has a grand total of 355 miles on it and on our way home we were going 70 using the cruise control and all of the sudden we lost all power, the engine continued running, but there was no power we had to pull off to the side of the road more than once, any ideas?

diesel kleen makes a good product, the one I use I can buy at autozone, has injector cleaner too. Just make sure whatever you use it is designed for use with ULSD oil burners.

I see what you mean but I think I should clarify here.

Power service makes both Diesel Kleen and Diesel Fuel Supplement.

Diesel Kleen does NOTHING to prevent fuel gelling. It's a summer additive and contains a cetane booster, fuel lubricant, and injector cleaners. With the exception of the first tank, every gallon of fuel my truck has ever burned has been treated with Diesel Kleen.

Diesel Fuel Supplement is their winter additive. It contains antigel and is supposed to prevent gelling down to -40 degrees. It doesn't contain as much in the way of injector cleaners or cetane booster as the summer stuff, as so much of it has to go towards keeping the fuel liquid. USE THIS STUFF IN COLD WEATHER!

I'll be using the white bottle diesel fuel supplement in the near future, as it's starting to get that cold here in OH. I treat every tank because the MPG improvement saves more than the $2.00 per tank it costs to treat it. Using additive saves money!

IMHO. the best thing you can do for your diesel in these temperatures is to buy blended fuel. Better yet, make sure it is 50% premium diesel and 50% #1. I like Cenex Roadmaster XL for my premium fuel. Premium fuel will negate the need for additives one should use when just running #2. It costs more, but you get what you pay for and then some. 50% #1 will negate the need for antigel unless you're in the Yukon or other extremely cold climates.

If you're on the road where you haven't identified a supplier with a premium winter blend, I'd use Ford antigel. It works for me, whereas I've had a bit of problem with the Power Service on a cold day.

+1 on what Tom said. I use the PS white bottle in the colder months and gray bottle in warm weather. I also keep a bottle of PS Diesel 911 in my truck at all times in winter.
