Service engine light no codes runs rough 7.3

What will set on the SES light. AFTER IT CAME ON the engine started to run rough until about 2000 rpm. It even shakes a little at idle. No codes. Any help appreciated............... It is a F250 2001 7.3

UVCH loose?,
Did you hear a loud POP before it happened? Could be a loose intake boot.
Might need to check the Icp sensor connection.
Maybe the EVBP sensor and tube.
Just suggestions.

If the SES light came on, there are codes stored in the PCM. It sounds like your scanner can't see the codes. The free scans at the parts stores can't read our codes either.

More info would be helpful, but UVCH sounds like a good guess at this point.

i think o'reilys can read them... none of the other ones can though... it cost ~99bucks at ford to get the codes read at dealership...almost worth getting an AE if your truck breaks alot lol

I also agree... you will have to remove the valve covers and fix the loose connector...
See the following thread link for all the info..:

Problem found, Thanks for all the replys. I tried to get codes with my $30 scanner but nothing. Went to a friend with a scanner that cost thousands. It allows to chatter the injectors to see if they are operating. Low and behold #5 is sticking. He is seeing more and more problems with the new fuel formulation which has had the luibricating properties removed. He suggests 4 oz of 2 stroke oil per 20 gallons in fuel. Or, a product meant to lube injectors. Never tranny fluid, it has a seal expander and can damage the injector.
