Removing Downpipe and Turbo Clamp

I started installing my MBRP 4" Dual exhaust today. Ive got all the stock exhaust removed and have the downpipe cut up as high as i could get.

The problem im having is removing the downpipe and turbo clamp from the turbo. Ive got the clamp completely unbolted but i cant get it off. I know a few people on here have mbrp exhaust and i was just wondering if anybody had any tips on how to break that turbo clamp loose? Thanks

Pop the bolt with a plastic covered mallet. Not to mess up the threads!Don't knock the h@LL out of it but it should free up.

Or you can lie under the truck and give the down pipe a couple boots. It's worked for me.

I sprayed my clamp down with Zep45. Any spray lubricant should work. If you look at the clamp, it's a single band that cinches down three V clamps to mate the downpipe flange to the turbo outlet flange. You should be able to see the end of one of the V clamps just under the split of the outer clamp where the T bolt is located. Place a flat blade screw driver against the end of the V clamp and give it a couple of medium raps with a hammer. This should break the clamp loose. When you go to remove the downpipe, make sure you lift up on it slightly to disengage it from the turbo outlet flange. The downpipe has an L shaped hanger that hooks over the turbo outlet flange.

Thanks for the tips guys. Right after i started this thread i went outside and sprayed the clamp down with some pb blaster. Then ran out to get some lunch. When i got back home i grabbed the clamp and twisted on it and it popped right off...then the downpipe fell down the back of the motor.

Kinda funny that i spent a good half hour beating on the clamp and the downpipe from under the truck and i couldnt get it to budge...but let a little pb blaster soak on there for a bit and everything falls apart.

Got the new exhaust all installed. Im not completely happy with how the dual tips look from the back of the truck....one is level and one points slightly down. I might try to adjust it a bit better tomorrow.
