Exhaust leak at turbo
Does the 94 IDI turbo use a gasket where the downpipe attaches to the turbo? I have had an exhaust leak there ever since I pulled the transmission to replace the torque converter and had to take the downpipe loose to get the trans out. If it does use a gasket does anyone have a part number or know where i can pick one up? Lastly i assume the clamp that attaches the downpipe to the turbo is a plain 3 inch V-band clamp am I correct in this or is it a special clamp? Any info on this is greatly appreciated as I am tired of smelling like charcoal every time i drive this truck! THANKS!

No it does not use a gasket, sounds like you don't have the pipe lined upon the bell right, if you still have the full exhaust on it, it can be a pain to get positioned before you tighten the clamp, should be a flanged bell joint beside trans, if you loosen this joint, probably need new bolts in flange (maybe not if you let them soak with PB Blaster for a while), just together enough so you don't screw yourself, put a lite film of grease on turbo bell & snug it so you can just rotate if you need to, snug lower joint to contact but still loose, tighten turbo bell tight, then tighten lower joint & you should be good
