Thumbs up MBRP Downpipe + Test Pipe Installed

Took about 4 hours. Been reading about how it's 50/50 on having to cut or being able to finagle it out.

I am here to report, you are a genie if you didn't cut it. 3 hrs later I got the damn thing out using a dremel + cutout wheels (6 to be exact). The new pipe is 3.5" like the OEM pipe...just no crimps or rough bends. There is room for a 4" downpipe...but it's pretty tight with the 3.5"

Here is the 3.5" MBRP vs. the OEM 3.5" with the Test Pipe

The MBRP 3.5" all by its lonesome

And this beauty is a lifesaver to protect your grill when working on a lifted truck and you have to use the tow hooks as step points

Overall it seems to be a decent product. I apparently had a slight leak on the OEM pipe. Little bit of soot on the firewall. The new pipe has nice thick welds, and the flanges are 1/4" thick.

So far so good with no leaks. Too late to do a test drive. Going to get her nice and hot tomorrow and then do a final tightening of all the joints to ensure they're all good to go.

Not too shabby a product for about $115 total IMO. Everything bolted up with no f'ing around and no modifications needed. I was pleasantly surprised. Only complaint is the crappy clamp. I'm going to get a band style clamp later on and replace it

The band clamps were a necessity on my truck. I couldn't get the regular clamp to clear the Trans tube. Do you have the rest of the exhaust system already?

3.5" downpipe

factory piping from muffler to tip

considering doing a muffler delete...not sure. truck is extremely loud. my neighbors never griped about my offroad piped Mustang...but they sure did complain about my 100% factory PSD

I don't have a muffler or cat it's 4" turbo back and it really isn't that loud at all.
What you do hear is the blow of the exhaust and the turbo whine, I really like the sound it's very distinguishable. Sounds stout I am all for it you will like it.

Not sure about your smog regs there in Hawaii I left the cat in but I knocked out the honeycomb it just looks like it's there

We don't have smog. Just a visual Reconstruction inspection. The LEO looked over my truck with a fine tooth comb and gave me passing papers...with the kitty deleted.

It'd be pretty easy to throw back in there if I ever need it. Sitting in a corner of the garage gathering cobwebs

I have 2 of them still intact from brother n/law, truck is due for smog check now thinkin about trying it with empty cat. That thing is tight as a tick to the pipe dont know if they do any ir temp on them to see if they are hot or not. First time I had to smog it new deal for us in Calif,*******s.lol

As far as you pulling the muffler I would do it especially being you have a tune I would think it would be nothing but good for you.

How long have you had your truck tuned,I have thought about doing that SRL tune. What is the data on problems : Good ? Whats your opinion on running SRL you dont have studs do you ? How about the transmission shifting firm/hard/soft ??
Would love to get a little more power when I step on it, just don't want to break it. EOT/ECT #s are 4-6 degrees
Would I be setting myself up for problems with the tall tires ??

1. Been tuned about 8-9 months
2. SRL ROCKS! Truck is a beast that loves to spin tires without much provocation. Stock tunes are so horrible when you have to run 'em for troubleshooting
3. Trans shifting is pretty nice. it shifts good and hard
4. No studs. The SRL is for non-studded trucks. The SRL+ is for studded trucks. Matt writes the SRL as a "head gasket safe"...it's a risk, but calculated. My truck only sees 20 psi with it. I'm seriously considering studs in October so I can up the boost and run the SRL+
5. Tunes have no effect on your EOT/ECT. That's strictly oil cooler.
6. My truck has 35" rubber and 13,6xx miles. Lift kit has been on it for >5 yrs with no issues...of course low low miles. But plenty of others run 35" or bigger with no issues. The F-250/350 is pretty damn tough IMO. If anything, the tuning might help you out with your 38" rubber

As far as the delta temps I was figuring more power=more heat the engine coolers need to deal with. Plugged coolers showin their problems with a bigger load

Don't do a muffler delete. It is ungodly loud.

I've been very happy with my Silverline turbo back kit. It is nice and mellow until you stand on it.

And that is the quandry. Do I run a Magnaflow/MBRP 4" flow through muffler...or be a cheapskate and just cut the thing out?

The older I get the more the idea of another muffler sounds better. Part of the reason I ditched the Mustang was because it had just gotten too much noise/loss of ride comfort. I don't want that to happen with this truck.

on another note, I put my SRL tune back on the truck earlier. Going to do a few more mild heat runs today/tomorrow to ensure everything is sealed/seated. Then I'm going to do a WOT run and see if the increased downpipe size gained me anything

Tylus my truck is not loud ! its 4" all the way. You might try it if you have a pipe to throw in there. Not sure how 3-1/2 will sound but it surprises me how quiet my truck is.

It's nothing like a gas engine straight piped, not even comparable

That could be injector noise you are hearing. Without a muffler it raps really bad and is just LOUD.
