67 F250

I just picked up a 67 F250 at an estate auction on a local farm. The truck is pretty rough, its been used for 30 odd years, and it shows. But for $300, I figured it was too cheap not to play with. Anyway, the body is hurting, rust and serious dents, as well as a couple of different colors and a good bit of Bondo. Is it possible to completely remove the body from the frame and start replacing/repairing as needed? My history so far has been with cars, but I think I've seen trucks torn down to just the frame, and they always make it look pretty easy. Am I insane for even trying this?

Thanks

you can rack up some bills doin this, but it can be enjoyable.as for it being easier that cars, well it looks to be but not necessarily.
if you can find all the body parts in good shape ready for primer, bolt 'em on and shoot it your're lucky.
just try finding good fenders for that truck and two new ones are 300 plus tax for the pair.i know,i just bought a pair.
i am doin exactly what you are are thinking of doin.am half way done and in the process have bought 3 runnin 67\72's for under 200!plenty of parts.
my truvk is a sport custom and at one time had all the trim but some dummy filled every hole.
you can buy the trim new through lmctruck.com plus many parts you might want.and the trim new was over 800 bucks!
i bought a complete 70 sport custom two-tone with good runnin 302\c6 for 250.
it was funny cause the old man i bought it from made it clear the camper shell wasnt part of the deal, hell that truck was a gold mine!

THINK HARD ABOUT IT BEFORE GETTING INTO IT!
later,

So, how different are the body panels from the various years? If I buy a fender from a 70 or 71, will the style lines and creases line up? Or will it look I cobbled together a truck from 6 different years? It seems that mechanically, the 65-79s are interchangeable. Is that also tru for body parts?

Thanks

the bodys on 67\72 are the same.
differences body wise are grill shells,67 to 9 are very close and all interchangable.
70 grill shell is identical to 71\2 but the tabs for the grills are different.70 was last year for big ol steering wheel with horn ring.
various trim group changes, but all these body parts will interchange.there is no difference between 67\72 fenders, beds, doors, cabs, hoods, just trim groups.73 was the new model.
will answer any question, bring 'em on!

hope this helps,

I hope you have a nice garage, I sure wish I did it would have made things much easier. It kinda sucks having to battle the elements of weather while you try to work on your truck and not to mention having to pack around your welder, tools, etc.
