I have a 2005 Explorer 4.0L V6 2wd 43000 miles, I have been doing my own repairs for 30 years, where did they hide the fuel filter? The owers manual said take it to the dealer.

 

If I'm reading the diagram right, it's in front of the tank behind a heat shield; you need to remove 2 nuts to get the shield out of the way. I believe you also need to depressurize the system, and have a special tool for the line quick-disconnects. Have fun!
